Project type
B2C product / cybersecurity
Responsibilities
UX designer
Team
One product manager; one developer team
Project status
3 months of development; delivered in Q1 2022
Design Objective
To facilitate player connections through game matching and social platforms for board game enthusiasts in major cities in China
Problem Statement
The current match-making and social apps for board games suffer from low user retention due to their lack of empathetic values towards users
Design Highlights
Communicate value and trust through a clear display of critical security information
This section offers a sneak peek of some highlighted features covered during my work on the Armor Security project
Home Page
In contrast to many apps in China that are cluttered with promotional banners and scattered shortcuts, Playbook's homepage offers a game-focused interface that emphasizes the uniqueness of each game
Store Details
The store page allows each location to showcase their store environment and the plays they offer; the plays are presented with a color-matching background, providing players with an immersive view of all the unique experiences available
Play Info
The Play Info page provides users with an immersive view of a play. Reviews are critical in helping users discover new plays, so having a visible review section can help users make informed choices
Badges System
A profile page can reveal a lot about someone, and as a platform that facilitates matchmaking and socializing, Playbook offers players options to showcase their favorite games, past gaming experiences, and achievements over time.
Takeaways
Know your users, and design from their perspectives
  • As a designer and MMLARP enthusiast myself, I enjoy designing for others who share my passion
  • It is important to stay unbiased while carrying dual perspectives and focusing on providing features that truly matter to our users
Know the market, and do what they do not offer to users
  • Having noticed that most related products in the market only cover the functional aspects of the MMLARP industry, our goal is to design a product that prioritizes the user's personal experience and connection with the game
  • This differentiator is what sets us apart and allows us to provide a better service
